The Lordship of Jesus Christ

“From the Heart” teaching by Drs. Rodney & Adonica Howard-Browne.

This Jesus God raised up, and of that all we [His disciples]are witnesses. 33 Being therefore lifted high by and to theright hand of God, and having received from the Father the promised [blessing which is the] Holy Spirit, He has made this outpouring which you yourselves both see and hear. 34
For David did not ascend into the heavens; yet he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand and share My throne 35 Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. 36 Therefore let the whole house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt and acknowledge assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (the Messiah)—this Jesus Whom you crucified. Acts 2:32-36 AMP

Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] 6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, 7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. 8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross! 9 Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, 10 That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 AMP

The Messiah coming to earth to save man was prophesied for thousands of years before Jesus was born into the earth as one of us. David called Him “Lord” long before He was born. Christ means “Anointed One” or Messiah. Jesus Christ did not have His beginning only two thousand years
ago—He was with God before the world began; He was there when everything was created (John 1:1-3). Through Him it was all created—and yet He humbled Himself to become as one of us and to bear the penalty of our sin and take our place on that cross. Because He obeyed God and sacrificed His own life, God the Father has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name above every name. Jesus truly is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is King and Lord over everything and every being in Heaven, on earth and under the earth. There is no one higher or greater
than Him. God made a way for every person on earth to have eternal life and be forgiven of all their sin. All they have to do is to recognize beyond all doubt and acknowledge assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ.

And on His garment (robe) and on His thigh He has a name (title) inscribed, King Of Kings And Lord Of Lords. Revelation 19:16 AMP

To keep all His precepts unsullied and flawless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), 15 Which [appearing] will be shown forth in His own proper time by the blessed, only Sovereign (Ruler), the King of kings and the Lord of lords. 1 Timothy 6:14-15 AMP

They will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them; for He is Lord of lords and King of kings—and those with Him and on His side are chosen and called [elected] and loyal and faithful followers. Revelation 17:14 AMP

Why is it so important to know and accept Jesus as Lord? You cannot be saved merely by joining a church or even doing good works. The only way to salvation is to acknowledge with your heart and your mouth that Jesus Christ truly is LORD and that He is Lord of YOUR life. Jesus is not merely a cultural deity—He does not belong to just one nation—He is Lord over every culture, every people, every nation, every tribe and every tongue!

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13 NKJV

At the mention of that Name—Jesus—every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that He is Lord! Everyone—including the devil and his demons and the living and the dead—will have to bow to Jesus and acknowledge Him as Lord. This will not earn them a place in Heaven. Only the Born Again will see Heaven—those people who confessed Jesus as Lord, in their lifetime. Everyone will eventually bow before Him—you can do it
willingly now or you can be forced to do it later! The wise will choose to acknowledge His Lordship as soon as they hear His Gospel preached and they will only be glad that they did!

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Romans 14:11 KJV

And I heard every created thing in heaven and on earth and under the earth [in Hades, the place of departed spirits] and on the sea and all that is in it, crying out together, To Him Who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed the blessing and the honor and the majesty (glory, splendor)and the power (might and dominion) forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities)! Revelation 5:13 AMP
